the farm...
yesterday (Saturday), two of my roommates (Julie & Jess) & I took off to Manilla, IA to visit the home of another one of our roommates (Emily). She lives on a farm and her family hosts a youth event for area youth groups each year- so this year she invited us to tag along and experience her family and the farm!
so we left Saturday around 11:30 and arrived at the farm around 2:30. we spent time riding in the tractor in order to move large hay bails into a maze! Then we spent time making sure that the maze worked and you could get out of it ok and that it wasn't too easy! we had a great time and also practiced our climbing and jumping skills on top of the large round bails.
We helped the family set up some and around 6pm the students started arriving. The hay maze was first, then some games in the shed, a speaker, food, and then capture the flag in the dark with glow sticks! We didn't really play- just watched and hid in the maze because the wind was cold!
then after all the students left, we helped clean up a bit and then the party moved into the house! i should preface this with the fact that emily has 5 siblings, multiple cousins who were staying, us, and friends that other family members had brought! i honestly don't know how many people were sleeping in that house- but it was lots of fun! however, Julie had a choir concert this afternoon so we had to get up early and leave (we left at 8am) and then i went to the Brahms' Requiem concert and enjoyed my cultural activity for the week!
i will try to post a picture or two from the farm experience, but emily has all the pics on her camera.
