What's the "lemming race"?

Ok, so a homecoming tradition here at Central is the lemming race-- it is a race from the library fountain to the pond... which is a straight line. It became a tradition 28 years ago.. and there is a grand lemming, similar to the grand marshall of a parade.. people get all dressed up in costumes and listen to the grand lemmings speech and then all run and jump into the pond and run up on to the island.... so anyway, this happened on Friday night, and if you all can recall, it was pretty cold then, but the lemming race went on! the president of Central even participated!! isn't that crazy?? if you look closely at the picture you can see all of the people running into the pond.. i didn't get any closer because there is the threat of bystanders being thrown into the pond--but it was a fun experience, maybe next year I will run in it-- if it's a little bit warmer! but overall homecoming was good.. my parents came up on Saturday and we spent some time together and went to the game... this was my first homecoming football game that my team won while I attended that school.. and won by quite a bit 41-6 over Cornell! Go dutch!
